The selection of books purchased for Public Libraries is made by the Purchase Committee reconstituted vide Government Order. The committee comprises Scholars, University Teachers and Writers besides Official Members of the Department. The Committee selects books for purchase under the Raja RamMohun Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata Matching Grant Scheme, books not covered under Raja RamMohun Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata & Books from local authors, after following prescribed procedure.
